Resume  

       Professor C Amuba Singh, born on 1^st March 1945, after passing B Sc (Hons) from Dhanamanjuri College, Imphal (under Gauhati University) in 1964, took M Sc degree in Physics from the Banaras Hindu University in 1967. He joined the Training School of Bhaba Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Trombay, the same year, for th 11^th batch of training in Physics. 

      On successful completion of the one-year training at BARC, he joined the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in 1968 and worked as Research Associate in the Theoretical Physics Division. From there he obtained his Ph D degree in High Energy Physics. He, in the year 1977, moved to the erstwhile Jawaharlal Nehru University Centre of Postgraduate Studies, Imphal, as Assistant Professor of Physics. He became a Professor of Physics in 1987 in Manipur University. In 2003, he became the Dean of the School of Science of the university. He has published a number of research articles in international and national journals of repute. 

      Professor Singh was a Visiting Scientist in the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and the Institute of Plasma Research, Ahmedabad (now at Gandhinagar). 

      Professor Singh has been a member of the Academic Council, and the Senate of Manipur University for more than twenty years. He has been on the Syndicate of the university for about eight years. 

      Professor Singh has been consistently taking active interest in promoting science education in the State. He was a member of the State Commission on Higher Education, Manipur, 2003. He was also a member of the State Planning Board, Manipur.

      He assumed the office of the Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University on 24^th January 2006.
