About the Department

The Department of Physical Education and Sports Science established in November, 2008, is one of the emerging professional department of Manipur University. Physical Education, which is an integral part of education, aims at improving the human performance through the medium of physical activities selected to realize the desire outcome. It also include the acquisition and refinement of motor skills, the development and maintenance of fitness for optimal health and well-being, the attainment of Knowledge and growth of positive attitutes towards physical outcomes that accrue from participation in activities but also with the development of knowledge and attitudes conducive to lifelong learning and participation. In fine, it aims for the development of physically, mentally, socially and emotionally fit citizens.

Vision of the Course
To cultivate the excellence of human resources in the dynamic enhancement and development of Physical Education and Sports through innovative programs in teaching, coaching, research and also to sharpen up the human talent for potential champion of tomorrow.
Objective

To create and train the highly qualified professionals in the field of Physical Education and Sports.

To establish the placement services in various academic and non-academic area.

To promote the mass participation in the field of Physical Education and Sports.

To impart the scientific knowledge and encourage the studies in the field of Physical Education and Sports.

To promote the Physical Education and Sports programs at the grass root level.

To provide the communities services in the field of Physical Education and Sports.

To promote the Physical Education and Sports as the social vehicle to inculcate the community understanding and goodwill upon the people of Different ethnic groups.
