The University has a well equipped Computer Centre. It was established in the year 1985 at the Physics Department under the leadership of Prof. H. Nandakumar Sarma. PGDCA course was running at the Computer Center till year 2000. The MCA course was also started at the Computer Center in the year 1990 and the Course is still being continued in full swing under Computer Science Department which was bifurcated from the  Center in 1992 and both the Department and Center were shifted to the  present Department of Computer Science from Physics Department and later on the Computer Center was shifted to the Administrative Block in the year 1994.

        It mainly caters to the Computing requirements for the University like Payroll, P.F., Accounting, Income Tax, LIC, Examination processing , etc. It also helps students for their project and research work. From time to time it is also conducting short term Computer Courses for students and in service trainees . It also develops specialized software for the management of University and Government offices. Computer Centre is also looking after Campus Network, Website Maintenance and other Office Automation jobs for the University.

        At present the Computer Center is equipped with one P-III IBM Server, around 20 P-IV IBM Netvista PCs, internal LAN, one HP LaserJet printer , one HP LASER printer, two 24 pin DMP of 500cps, one Scanner, one Digital Projector.

        As an extension of the Computer Centre there is one ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) center which is dedicated for the work of Examination processing and Registration work. The ICR section is equipped with the specialized Hardware equipments -two Fujitsu Scanners, two Heavy duty HP LaserPrinter, One Server and six PCs.

        The Officers of the Computer Center were actively engaged in software development, training work and at times as resource persons for the UGC sponsored refresher courses organized by other departments.
