The Manipur University Library is located at the centre of the University Campus. It has a four storey building with a floor area of 3200 sq.m. It is the heart of self education for the students, teachers and staff of the University. It is also a Referral Library of the state. It is used as information centre by more than 3000 registered members consisting of 2170 P.G. Students, 702 Research Scholars, 191 Teachers and 483 Non-Teaching staff. Many outsiders also come to the library in search of information. Since the inception of the library in 1972, it has been playing a vital role in preservation and conservation of the documents pertinent with the university community.
The library has a collection of more than 1,61,000 books and subscribes to more than 200 printed journals.

Manipur University Library is in the forefront of library automation and networking in the North East India. The library became a node of INFLIBNET since 1993.
It has three databases viz: i) Books ii) Serials and iii) Thesis are incorporated in the union databases of INFLIBNET, Ahamedabad. The library is also a member of UGC-Infonet e-journal consortium. The consortium provides current as well as archival access to more than 8600 core and peer-reviewed journals and nine bibliographic databases from 23 publishers and aggregators in different disciplines. The library remains open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all working days and from 10 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. on Sundays. In an average 300 visitors come daily in the library.
