Commerce Department

Facilities


Departmental Library:

The Department of Commerce, Manipur University is maintaining a library in the premises of Department to meet the requirement of books for students, Research Scholars and Faculty members directly from the department. There are more than 250 copies of Text Books and reference books, 653 copies of M.Com dissertations, 10 different journals, 5 national and local newspapers and reports. This facility is extended to the students and research scholars of the Department in addition to the facilities available at Central Library, Manipur University. Non-teaching staff, student’s representatives and teacher in-charge of the department are the main operational staff of the library.



Girls Common Room:

Majority of the students enrolled in the department for studying Ph.D course and MCom course are found as girls. To enable to interact among the girls students of the department, a girl’s common room is maintaining in the department especially for the Girl’s students of the department.



Ph. D Scholars Room:

Unlike science stream, scholars of Commerce department do not have their own room or laboratory in the department. However, the department is maintaining a room where PhD research scholars can have their common room so that they can seat together, exchange idea and work together for the development of commerce department in particular and Manipur University in general.



Commerce Career Counseling Centre:

The department is maintaining a Centre where anybody can come and seek advice on the career on Commerce education. This cell is open for any person within the university as well as from outside the university campus. Relevant suggestion is provided to the needy person at free of course. Apart from this, the Centre is also preparing relevant documentation work in connection with Career guidance and prospect of commerce education. The same information is also publishing from time to time in the local newspapers and other media for propagating commerce education in Manipur.



Commerce Museum:

It has been observed that most of machine and equipment thrown away as and when they become obsolete or even breakdown However, the department of Commerce, Manipur University is maintaining a museum called ‘Commerce Museum’ where old machine and equipment are displayed. So that it will help to younger generation for identifying old machines and equipment in future. There are …………… old items are displayed in the museum. In addition to old items, the department is also developing different documents, equipment to be kept in the Museum so that the same can be used later on by the needy person and research scholars.



Photography Club:

Sweet memories and works undertaken by the department in seminar, workshop, training programme, fresher’s meet, teachers day and farewell party are captured in images. The Photography club run by the students of the department maintains a club of photography collecting photos and other sweet memories in the department. Apart from this, the club is also organizing training programme on how to take a photo, closer, distance, night time, day time and foggy time so on with the help of professional in the field.



Wall Magazine ‘REFLECTION’:

To engage students in academic value, to exchange their ideas, express their views and opinions, sharing new thoughts and information, the department is also regularly publishing a monthly wall magazine under the banner of ‘REFLECTION’. Quote of the month, Health Tips, Poem, International day and national day falls in the month, current information and other relevant information are place on the wall magazine.



Academic Inputs to Students:

The department is regularly inviting different resource person for delivering lecture on various burning issues which are not a part of course curriculum. This value addition programme enhances the knowledge of the students in different field so that they can ready to face the new challenges of their life when they go out from the department. Till date, few topics delivered by the resource persons are: i) Global Warming ii) Devaluation of Rupee iii) Significance of Voluntary Blood Donation, iv) HIV/AIDS etc.
