13th and 14th January,2023: Six months progress Report presentation of Research scholars of Zoology was held on the 13th & 14th January 2023.
Date 12.01.2023 : Prof.Ravinder Nath Marius Sehgal, Department of Biology, San Francisco State University, San Francisco, USA gave a talk on " Avian malaria in a changing world" at 10.30 am in the department. Altogether, more than 100 Students from the department of Zoology and department of environment and forestry participated. Prof. R. Varatharajan, Dean, School of Life Sciences, MU gave the presidential remarks and Prof. Th. Binoy proposed the vote of thanks.
Date 23/12/2022 (Friday): The monthly Seminar presentation of Research club of the department of Zoology, Manipur University was held today in the Conference hall. Two presenters namely; 1. Moirangthem Kishan Singh from Animal physiology lab, MU and 2. Ishwor Haobam from Entomology lab, DMU gave their insights into different aspects of their research findings.
Date 28/11/2022: As done every month a paper review seminar was organised today for the department of Zoology for the month of November, 2022.

16.12.2022 : A team of Scholars of the Department of Zoology, MU attended a Department of Space, Government of India sponsored training course on Remote sensing and GIS application in Forestry and Ecology held from 5th to 16th December,2022 at the North Eastern space applications centre, Shillong. The Scholars are Th. Rojen, Lebanan keisham, Caroline, Lemba & Nibem keisham.

14 to 15th December, 2022. Our Research Scholars S. Sushilkumar and S. Mexico presenting papers at the International Conference on biodiversity and conservation cum workshop on traditional medicine held from the 14th to 15th Dec, 2022 at St. Anthony college, Shillong. Besides them a few other Scholars also presented papers in the online mode.
14.12.2022: Prof. R. Varatharajan, Dean, School of Life Sciences, Manipur University releasing the first packet of Vermicompost produced by the Department of Zoology, Manipur University on Wednesday, the 14th December, 2022.
10.12.2022: Pure natural Honey available in University Canteen. Price Rs 200 for 250 ml. The Department of Zoology, Manipur University has started producing pure natural Honey in collaboration with some subsidiary farms located in different areas of Manipur. The department has taken up the initiative of imparting knowledge and knowhow on Bee rearing in needy Villages of Manipur. At present with tieup with some farmers in Tentha khonbal, the department has started selling honey through BEENET, Manipur. In Manipur University campus it is presently available in MU Canteen.
03.08.2022(Wednesday): A team of Researchers from Bangor University, Wales, UK, made an interaction with the Research Scholars and Students of Zoology today, the 3rd August 2022, at 11.30 am. The Bangor team consisted of Vishal Santra, Sourish Kuttalam, Luke O'Sullivan and Guillem L. Russel. The team mainly interacted on the phylogenetics of Snales. A film on Snakebites in northeast India was also screened as an educational awareness. Manipur University has an MOU on educational and research collaboration with Bangor University,UK.
27.07.2022 ( Wednesday): An interactive session of the Research Scholars of Life Sciences with Prof. Girish C. Shukla, Department of Biological, Geo and EVS Sciences, Centre for gene regulation in health and diseases, Cleveland State University, Ohio, USA, was held today in the Conference hall. Dr MunishKumar Pandey, Department of Biochemistry, Allahabad University, also attended the Program. Prof. R.Varatharajan, Dean, School of Life Sciences, presided. Discussion on Research ethics, publication and Research as a passion was held. Prof. Sukhla spoke at great length on the point of taking research as one's passion and life goal. He advised the students to look for diverse avenues & newer streams, search for related publications to what we were working on, and try to find a relationship that could be applied to our study.
25.07.2022: Presenting the works done every six months by Research Scholars of Zoology is a practice done every half yearly. In addition, every month, the department organises a journal review by Students as a part of the activity of the Research Club of department. Today also, an online research presentation has been conducted.
11.07.2022 & 12.07.2022: The department of Zoology conducted a two-day research review presentation of the Research Scholars of the department. 49 Research Scholars made PowerPoint presentations of their six months' works. A committee consisting of Prof. Rk. Gambhir, Prof. Th. Binoy & Dr Sivakumar evaluated them. Dr Ksh. Birla acted as faculty in charge. Other Faculty members also attended.

Date 13.06.2022 (Monday): Dr Pramod Kumar Pandey, Director, ICAR-Directorate of Cold Water Fisheries (DCFR), Bhimtal, Uttarakhand interacted with the Students of MSc Zoology at 10.30 am, today the 13th June 2022 on the prospects, challenges and opportunities in Research in Cold water Fisheries.
Date 30.05.2022 ( Monday): Prof. Mohammad Manjur Shah, Chairman, Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, Nigeria delivered a lecture on the topic "Importance of Publications in Scientific Research Findings" at 2.30 pm today, the 30th May 2022 in the Seminar room of life Sciences. It could be mentioned that Prof. Manjur did his post-doctoral research in Life Sciences Department, Manipur University before joining the Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano, Nigeria in 2015. Besides talking on the roles of Publications, he also shared his life experiences in the field of research.
Date 05.05.2022( Thursday): As a part of the monthly research paper review seminar done under the Research Club & Journal club, Department of Life Sciences ( Zoology ) today, the 5th May 2022 at 11 am three Research Scholars viz T. Ibochouba Singh, Yuringwon Zimik & Th. Bishoya Devi presented different topics on different areas of research.
