Manipur University, 12/11/2021: Today (12th November 2021), Manipur University NSS Unit I and II in collaboration with their Adopted Villages kick off Seven Days Special Camp (12th to 18th November 2021) with a theme: Youth for Containing COVID 19 pandemic at MU Centenary Open Air Theatre in a simple function with Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Registrar of the University as Chief Guest. Shri Nepram Kishan Singh (Advisor, The Kyamgei Youth Pioneer Club, Kyamgei) and Shri Okram Sunil Meitei (President, The Social Educational Voluntary Athletic/SEVA Club, Thongju Part II) were also present and Guest of Honour and President of the function. During the function, the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of NSS towards the academic sanctity of the University specially its outreached activities will attract more positive perceptions from the community which ultimately augment the overall ranking of the University. Guest of Honor shares his personal experiences which he said might be helpful in achieving the goal of anti-drug campaign by the youths of Manipur. As a part of the camp, volunteers will have various activities such as, on-spot academic competitions, lecture programs by resource persons, social services, awareness programs which are based on community needs and on COVID 19, blood donation, hands-on demonstration on basic first aid, Yoga, Tree plantation, etc.

Manipur University 14/11/2021: Today as a part of Seven days’ special camp for NSS volunteers, Manipur University, NSS Unit I and II jointly organized the Observance of Children’s’ Day (14th November, 2021) with a theme “Children should also be completely protected from COVID 19” at MU Centenary Open Air Theatre. During the observance function, Shri Montu Ahanthem, Former Member, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights presented a lecture on “Child Rights and POCSO Act”. A rally was also organized by NSS volunteers by taking Children related placards.

Manipur University, 15/11/2021: Today, Manipur University NSS Unit I and II organizes one-day Voluntary Blood Donation as a part of Seven Days Special Camp (12th to 18th November 2021) at JNIMS. Yesterday, Shri Narendra Ningombam, Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, Imphal East District Branch motivated the volunteers for blood donation and today altogether 18 number of NSS Volunteers got registered for the same. Indeed, it was an unexpected turn out of volunteers and the program was a grand success.

A brief report on Manipur University NSS Unit I and II Seven Days Special Camp which was conducted from 12 th to 18 th November 2021 in collaboration with their adopted Villages (Thongju Part II, Canchipur and Kyamgei Heibong Makhong, Kyamgei, Imphal East) with a theme: Youth for Containing COVID 19 pandemic.

Day One (12/11/2021):

Day Two (13/11/2021):
First Session: Dr. Ch. Ibohal Singh, Former Coordinator NSS Cell Manipur University (Topic: Introduction on NSS and its role in the Society). He emphasized on development of personality through community outreached.
Second Session: Mr. Yendrembam Kiran Singh, Social Activist and national Advisor, Netaji Subhas Vikas Foundation, New Delhi (Topic: Spirit of Voluntarism and Good Governance). He motivated the volunteers to become smart as we are using smart phones.
Afternoon Programs: Team wise academic competitions such as Extempore speech, paper reading, recitation, slogans etc. as well as cultural competitions like One act play, Skits, Solo songs, group songs, dance, etc.

Day Three (14/11/2021):
Activities at Adopted Village: Thonju Part II, Canchipur (The Social Educational Voluntary Athletic/SEVA Club)
Assembled early morning at the site and interacted with village people. Cleanliness drive begins with a theme on “Free plastic zone” in and around the Club sites. Tree Plantation along with Club/village members. Plant sampling were donated by Mr. Tilak Raj of Nongmeibung, Imphal East and by Mr. N. Samananda Singh of Singjamei, Imphal West.
Awareness session on Blood Donation was given by Shri Narendra Ningomba, Theatre personality. He had given a thought provoking speech for the volunteers and motivated the young mind for donation of life saving fluid (Blood). As a result, 18 number of volunteers registered next day for voluntary blood donation at JNIMS. On the same day Dr. Maibam Nodiyachand Singh, Program Coordinator NSS Cell Manipur University also given a lecture on the Topic: NSS Activities while Adopting a Village. Club Secretary Mr. Nameirakpam Cheengkhei spoke about the organization and mobilization of youth volunteers.
As a part of the special camp, MU NSS Unit I and II jointly organizes the Observance of Children’s Day with a theme “Children should also be completely protected from COVID 19” at MU Centenary Open Air Theatre. First session: Dr. Y. Mohen Singh, Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Manipur State Branch (Topic: Youth for voluntary services). He talks about how morals be inculcated by youths through volunteerism.
Second session: Dr. M. Macha Chaoreikanba, PO, NSS Unit II (Topic: Demonstration on the Cultural identity of Manipur). A beautiful combination of song and dance was performed by our Program Officer.
Today (15/11/2021), as a part of the camp a Voluntary Blood Donation camp was organized at JNIMS Imphal East. Yesterday, Shri Narendra Ningombam, Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, Imphal East District Branch motivated the volunteers for blood donation and today altogether 18 number of NSS Volunteers got registered for the same and out of which 16 volunteers donated their blood. Indeed, it was an unexpected turn out of volunteers and the program was a grand success.

Session on our theme by Dr. Senjam Sunil Singh, PO NSS Unit I on the Topic: Youth for Containing COVID 19 Pandemic and practices of COVID Appropriate Behaviour. Club member Mr. Arvind spoke about the personality development by the volunteers. Afternoon Programs: Team wise academic competitions such as Extempore speech, paper reading, recitation, slogans etc. as well as cultural competitions like One act play, Skits, Solo songs, group songs, dance, etc.

Day Six (17/11/2021):
First session: Mrs. Diana Thokchom, Assistant Professor, GP Women College (Topic: Youth and Social Media usage during COVID -19 Pandemic). She talks about the pro and cons of using social media by youths and how to detox if there is any over misuse of it.
Second Session: Mr. Khadangbam Mukta Singh, Research Scholar, Physical Education, Manipur University (Topic: Role of Yoga on Health and Wellness of Youth). Mr. Mukta explains and demonstrated proper use of light YOGA.
Afternoon Session: Mr. Nabachandra Athokpam, State Youth Coordinator, IRCS, Manipur State Branch, conducted Hands-on Demonstration of Basic First Aid (Fractures, Nose bleeding, Animal bites, CPR, Casualty transportation, Chocking, Epilepsy, Drowning, Bandaging etc.)


Day Seven (18/11/2021):
Morning First Session (9:00am): Mr. Khadangbam Mukta Singh, Research Scholar, Physical Education, Manipur University (Light YOGA session for Volunteers).
Valedictory Function:
In his speech, The Chief Guest Prof. Naorem Lokendra Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Manipur University emphasized about the personality development of volunteers by improving the verbal and writing skills. Also the Chief Guest talk about the importance of Emotional Quetient (EQ) rather than IQ for becoming a perfect citizen. Shri Nameirakpam Cheengkhei, Secretary, SEVA Club also talk about inculcation of volunterism by the youth and contribute for nation building. Shri Dharmendra Nepram, Vice President, KYPC encouraged the volunteers to become a successful citizen and leader of the society. Dr. Maibam Nodiyachand Singh, Program Coordinator, NSS Cell Manipur University on his Presidential speech talks about the importance of outreach activities at adopted Villages and that must be the goal for NSS Special Camps. He also elaborated on the very genesis of NSS and its objectives to the volunteers present in the function. During the fuction Chief Guest distributed best volunteers certificate and other certificates to the
participants.
