Online Video Blogging State Level Fitness Challenge - 2020

On the theme “MY LIFE MY FIT”

 

ABOUT FICC and FIC, Manipur University:

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India launched the Fit India Movement on August, 29, 2019. He urged the people of the country to make fitness their life style. Today lifestyle diseases are on a rise in India affecting even the young. Cases of diabetes and hypertension are on the rise and even common among children in India. But small lifestyle changes can prevent these lifestyle diseases and help people to live a healthy and prosperous life. “Fit India Movement” is an effort to bring these small lifestyle changes.

As a part of Fit India Movement, Manipur University has constituted two committees e.g. Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club to be taking initiative to be part of the novel Fit India Movement through various activities. Accordingly, the Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club has prepared schematic action plan for implementation in the University.

 

Vision: All the Students, Faculty members, Officers and Non-teaching staff of the University to have physical fitness, mental fitness, social fitness, emotional and intellectual well-being.

Mission: To inculcate the habit amongst the students, Teaching and Non-teaching staff of the University to lead a healthy life by adopting a healthy lifestyle.

 

Objectives:

  1. To inculcate the habit of adopting healthy lifestyle amongst the students, faculty members, officers and Non-teaching staff of the Manipur University.

  2. To sensitize the Fit India Concept to all the members of the Manipur University.

  3. To include Fit Programmes and activities are a part of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the courses running in the various departments of the University.

  4. Assigning responsibilities for executing the Fit India Campaign concept to the Fit India Club of the University.

  5. Monitoring the implementation of the Fit India Campaign and assuring to report it regular to the Ministry and UGC through the Nodal Officer of Social Media Championship.


About Contest:

Physical activity and exercise is important for everyone. Children, adolescents, and adults of all ages need regular physical activity. Physical activity promotes good health and improves your overall quality of life. A person with a good physical health can live life to its fullest extent. A great wording “Health is Wealth” truly fits for those who are physical and mentally fit. Fitness plays important role in our lives because if you are mentally and physically fit then you will be less prone to medical conditions. We can save a lot of our hard earning money by paying little attention to our fitness. Health is important to all of us especially for our children and young people who are the base of our society and who will be the next leaders to lead our country. Today’s young generation loves to engaged fitness activity and believe us fitness activities can helps you to achieve your health fitness goals. Fitness activities are focus on both human wholesome personality and physical development. The contests have been designed in such a way that more and more people can participate, can engage their families and friends. The first ever Fitness Challenge is being conducted to bring positivity, happiness, opportunity to show their skill potential and fitness talent. This online video blogging state level fitness challenge 2020 is one of the awareness campaigns to promote fitness during COVID-19 Pandemic situation.

Rules of the Fitness Challenge:

  1. Eligibility for participation: All the Fitness lovers, Sportsman and students of the state Manipur can participate in this Fitness challenge.

  2. Components of Fitness Challenge:

  • Push-Ups

  • Sit-Ups

  1. Category: Men(Open) & Women (Open)

  1. Registration: Free

  2. Submission of fitness challenge video: All the fitness challenges video should be uploaded in the given link https://forms.gle/qbqJeY715YKZzjJd6 all the video should be in MP4 format. While recording your video performance they must be record from proper angle and visibility shall be considered. All the video shall include a clock to check the time duration.

  3. Last Date of submission of the Fitness challenge: 19 June 2020 (4:00 PM.)

  4. Evaluation: Only correct perform and proper video with timing will be considered evaluate and whatever taken decision by the evaluation committee will be final. If any manipulated and edited video is found by the committee, it will be rejected from evaluation.

  5. Result declaration: 20th June, 2020. Those who are get 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position their prize money with certificate will be handover on the occasion of Observance of International Yoga Day - 2020 on 21 June, 2020. The committee will inform you in time for prize distribution.

  6. Prize Money:

  • 1st Prize Rs. 3000/- With Certificate.

  • 2nd Prize Rs. 2000/- With Certificate

  • 3rd Prize Rs. 1000/- With Certificate

All the participants will get E- Certificate.


Fitness Challenge Components are as follows:

  1. Push-Up (Men/Women)

  2. Bend Knee Sit - Up (Men/Women)

 

1. Flat Push – Up (Men and Women): This test measures muscular endurance of the upper body muscle (antererior deltoid, pectoralis major, and triceps). Muscular endurance is defined as the ability to contact the muscle repeatedly over a specific period of time without undue fatigue.

How to perform:

  1. Your hands should be placed slightly wider than shoulder width apart, with fingers pointing forward. Your feet should be together, do not cross then.

  2. Starting from the up position (front leaning rest), lower your body until your upper arms are parallel to the ground/floor in the down position. You will then return to the up position. In the up position your elbows must be extended, in order to count. This is one repetition.

  3. Resting should be done in the up (front leaning rest position). Both hands must remain in contact with floor at all times.

  4. You should perform as many correct flat push-ups as possible in one minute.

  5. The total number of correct push-ups in one minute is recorded as the score.

2. Bent Knee Sit-Ups (Men and Women): This is a measure of the muscular endurance of the abdominal muscles.

How to perform:

  1. Start by lying on your back to the floor with your knees bent, heels flat on the floor. Your fingers should be interlocked and placed behind the head. The buttocks must remain on the floor with no thrusting of the hips.

  2. A partner is permitted to hold the lower legs or ankles or hook the ankle in any object, if your wish.

  3. While in the up position, you should touch your elbow to your knees and then return to a full lying position before staring be next sit-up. When returning position your shoulder blades should touch the ground/floor.

  4. You should perform as many correct sit-ups as possible in one minute.

  5. Your score is the total number of correct sit-ups performed in one minute. Any resting should be done in the up position, not in the lying position.
