ABOUT FICC and FIC, Manipur University:
The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India launched the Fit India Movement on August, 29, 2019. He urged the people of the country to make fitness their life style. Today lifestyle diseases are on a rise in India affecting even the young. Cases of diabetes and hypertension are on the rise and even common among children in India. But small lifestyle changes can prevent these lifestyle diseases and help people to live a healthy and prosperous life. “Fit India Movement” is an effort to bring these small lifestyle changes.
As a part of Fit India Movement, Manipur University has constituted two committees e.g. Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club to be taking initiative to be part of the novel Fit India Movement through various activities. Accordingly, the Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club has prepared schematic action plan for implementation in the University.
Vision: All the Students, Faculty members, Officers and Non-teaching staff of the University to have physical fitness, mental fitness, social fitness, emotional and intellectual well-being.
Mission: To inculcate the habit amongst the students, Teaching and Non-teaching staff of the University to lead a healthy life by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Objectives:
To inculcate the habit of adopting healthy lifestyle amongst the students, faculty members, officers and Non-teaching staff of the Manipur University.
To sensitize the Fit India Concept to all the members of the Manipur University.
To include Fit Programmes and activities are a part of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the courses running in the various departments of the University.
Assigning responsibilities for executing the Fit India Campaign concept to the Fit India Club of the University.
Monitoring the implementation of the Fit India Campaign and assuring to report it regular to the Ministry and UGC through the Nodal Officer of Social Media Championship.
About Contest:
Yoga is one of oldest traditional discipline in India and Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, Intellectually and spiritually practices. Yoga asanas are the simplest and the easiest way to reduce our excess weight and to meditate our body and mind. The ancient practice types of yoga asanas provide a wide range of mind and body benefits, including other benefits like giving strength and flexibility, stress relief and even cure many diseases. Yoga is all about stretching our body in different forms and meditation. As Surya Namaskar – Sun Salutation is an ancient yogic tradition of worshiping the rising or setting of the sun (surya). It is thought that if the day and night were like breathing dawn and dusk would be the pause between the inhalation and exhalation (kumbaka) and the perfect time for reflection, meditation, or yoga practice. Finally he mention about the benefits of yoga practice e.g. Increase blood and lymphatic circulation, Muscles tone up and get better body shapes, Better digestion by enhancing Peristaltic movement in the elementary cannels, Enhancing Immunity as all system of the body works co-ordinately, Enhancing body fit especially increase flexibility, endurance, agility etc., Enhancing Calm, Peace, Harmony of body and mind by converting sympathetic to parasympathetic nerves fibres. Ultimately it controlled blood pressure, anxiety, tension and bad tendencies, resulting for fruitful life, equality to god or the aim of life. Pranayama is control of Breath. "Prana" is Breath or vital energy in the body. On subtle levels prana represents the pranic energy responsible for life or life force, and "ayama" means control. So, Pranayama is "Control of Breath". One can control the rhythms of pranic energy with pranayama and achieve healthy body and mind. Practice of Pranayama achieves the balance in the activities of these pranas, which results in healthy body and mind. Pranayama or yogic breathing is one of the best techniques of yoga. It has enormous positive effect in our body, mind and emotions. Simple techniques of pranayama help lot. When we practice pranayama it will be better to start with sectional breathing (Abdominal, Thoracic, Clavicular and combination of three as full yogic breathing). There are no limitations for this practice even regular practice works wonders. It enhances power and vitality. The contests have been designed in such a way that more and more people can participate, can engage their families and friends. The first ever yoga contest is being conducted to bring positivity, happiness, opportunity to show their skill and talent. This online video blogging state level yoga contest 2020 is one of the awareness campaigns to promote yoga during COVID-19 Pandemic situation.
Rules of the Yoga Contest:
Eligibility for participation: All the Yoga lovers, Sportsman and students of the state Manipur can participate in this Yoga Contest.

Submission of Yoga Contest video: All the yoga contest video should be uploaded in the given link https://forms.gle/dZK4bPqtogNWSCDE9 all the video should be in MP4 format. While recording your video performance they must be record from proper angle and visibility shall be considered. All the video shall include a clock to check the time duration.
Last Date of submission of the Yoga Contest: 19 June 2020 (Time: 4:00 MP).
Evaluation: Only correct perform and proper video with timing will be considered evaluate and whatever taken decision by the evaluation committee will be final. If any manipulated and edited video is found by the committee, it will be rejected.
Result declaration: 20th June, 2020. Those who are get 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position their prize money with certificate will be handover on the occasion of Observance of 6th International Yoga Day - 2020 on 21 June, 2020. The committee will inform you in time for prize distribution.
Prize Money:
1st Prize Rs. 3000/- With Certificate.
2nd Prize Rs. 2000/- With Certificate
3rd Prize Rs. 1000/- With Certificate
All the participants will get E- Certificate.
