A Brief C.V. of Dr. A. Rajmani Singha
Dr. A. Rajmani Singha, a distinguished academic with an M.Com (Gold Medalist-1989) and Ph.D.-1992 from Manipur University, currently serves as Professor of Finance in the Department of Commerce at Manipur University, a central university in Imphal. Previously, he was the Head of the Department of Commerce at the same university and held a lecturer position for three years at Sherubtse College under the Royal Government of Bhutan, affiliated with the University of Delhi (1992-1995). Over his 29-year career, Dr. Singha has demonstrated a strong commitment to academic and professional excellence, authoring 18 books, 44 chapters, 49 research papers in national and international journal, and 18 articles. His editorial contributions include six volumes of journals i.e., Kangleipak Business Review-a peer reviewed Manipur University journal of business studies, twelve souvenirs, three NSS Annual Reports, three newsletters, two manuals for NSS, HIV AIDS and Blood donation and three annual profiles of the department entitled- Goodwill. Another milestone is contribution of a publication volume, “35 years of Manipur University-1980-2015” as an Editor.
Dr. A. Rajmani Singh has successfully supervised nine Ph.D. scholars in the field of finance and 173 M.Com dissertations, contributing substantially to academic research and student development in partial fulfilment of M.Com examination. Additionally, he has delivered 171 invited lectures across the state and region, sharing insights on finance, financial literacy, retirement planning, skills development, youth and its emerging issues, with diverse audiences. Through his mentorship and public lectures, Dr. Singha has significantly impacted financial education and community awareness.
Furthermore, he has written extensively on financial literacy, with 136 articles published in local dailies. His well-regarded books cover diverse topics, including Handlooms of Manipur, Commerce Education in North East India, Financial Inclusions for Inclusive Growth, Youth, Peace and Development, Tourism Industry in India, Microfinance-Boon or Bane, Microfinance for Poverty Alleviation, Skilling of Youth for Zero Unemployment, Fundamentals of Personal Finance (CBCS Textbook), Financial Management (M.Com Textbook), and the Handbook on Retirement Planning.
Dr. Singha is a regular participant in academic seminars, having attended 32 international (six outside India) and 58 national seminars and conferences, often serving as Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, panelist, chairperson, discussant, and rapporteur. He has also organized numerous academic events, including one international seminar, 11 national-level seminars and workshops, 13 state-level seminars, ToT and workshops. His research and teaching interests are primarily in finance, with a focus on microfinance, personal finance, financial management, and security analysis and portfolio management, as well as management accounting, youth development, and skills education.
Dr. Singha has also held significant leadership roles, including founder president of the Association of Commerce Alumni (ACA), Manipur University Alumni Association (MUAA), founder Vice-President of the North East India Commerce and Management Association (NEICMA), Joint Secretary of the Indian Association of Life Skills Education in Chennai, and Program Officer and Programme Coordinator of the NSS Cell at Manipur University. He also previously served as the Finance Officer (in-charge) at Manipur University.
Currently, Dr. Singha holds the position of Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at Manipur University and is actively engaged as a Member Coordinator for the assessment and accreditation of higher educational institutions under NAAC, Bangalore. He also serves as the Zonal Coordinator of the Indian Association of Life Skills Education for North East India and is a dedicated life skills trainer and financial education motivator. A SEBI-empanelled resource person since 2013, Dr. Singha has organized over 101 workshops to enhance financial education and literacy across various target groups of the region in general and state in particular. Additionally, he contributes as a columnist for The People Chronicles, local English daily, where he has written 136 articles on financial literacy and knowledge as of March 7, 2023. Dr. Singha has actively consults for microfinance institutions, NGOs, SHGs, JLGs, Assessment and Accreditation of HEIs as per NAAC guidelines in the state and region.
