Manipur University, 20 March 2025: A 10-day Book Fair, jointly organised by the Unity Uplift Foundation (UUF), Imphal West and the College Development Council (CDC), Manipur University (MU) under the sponsorship of the National Book Trust, commenced today and will continue from 20th to 29th March 2025 at the MU Auditorium.
The inaugural function was graced by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Manipur University, as the Chief Guest. Shri Salam Tiken Singh, President of UUF, presided over the function. Dr. Th. Khomdon Singh, Librarian, Manipur University of Culture (MUC), and Shri Nongthombam Suraj Singh, President, Manipur University Students’ Union (MUSU), attended as Special Invitees.
In his address, Prof. Lokendra emphasized that the success and reputation of a university are largely determined by the quality of its research output, student competence, academic performance, and placement records. He further stated that book fairs play a vital role in expanding students’ knowledge, fostering reading habits, and nurturing a vibrant and dynamic learning environment. He reiterated the university’s commitment to providing diverse opportunities for its students' academic and personal growth.
It is worth mentioning that two book fairs were successfully organised at Manipur University last year, drawing substantial participation from both students and faculty members.
