As a part of the Nation’s Fit India Movement launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, under the Department of Higher Education are required to take initiatives to be part of the novel Fit India Movement. In compliance with MHRD order no. D.O. No.F.1-54/2019 (Website/Fit-India) Dated 15th January 2020.
As per the direction of the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the Higher Educational institutions and Ministry of Ayush have been asked to organize “6th International Day of Yoga 2020” under the theme of “Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family” as a part of ‘Fit India Movement. It has been jointly organized by Fit India Campaign Committee and Fit India Club, Department of Yoga and Manipur University Students’ Union, Manipur University Canchipur held on 21st June 2020. (Sunday) at 8:00 a.m. at Dr. Kamal Indoor Stadium, Manipur University, Canchipur.
Shri. Jarnail Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University, Prof. R A S Kushwaha, Dean, School of Human and Environmental Science, Manipur University, Prof. K. Yugindro Singh, Chairman, Fit India Campaign Committee, Manipur University, Prof. Th. Ratankumar Singh, Chairman, Fit India Club, Manipur University, Canchipur has kind consented to grace the function as Presidium Members for this Observance of 6th International Day of Yoga 2020.
Dr. L. Santosh Singh, convenor, FICC and FIC, Manipur University, Canchipur has delivered the speech as a welcome and Keynote address for this observance of the 6th International Day of Yoga -2020. He said, In view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, this year’s 6th IDY 2020 have observance no mass gatherings with respect to all the protocol of the COVID-19 Pandemic situation under the theme of the ‘Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family’. This year, we observed the 6th IDY 2020 only Deans, Head of Department, and University officers because of the pandemic situation.
As per the direction of the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the Higher Educational institutions, Ministry of Ayush and ICCR seeks to raise awareness about yoga and to inspire people to prepare for and become active participants in the observation of IDY 2020 have been asked to organize two Online Video Blogging State Level Competition 2020, one is the Online Video Blogging State level Yoga Contest – 2020 under the theme of the “My Life My Yoga” and Second one is Online Video Blogging State Level Fitness Challenge -2020 under the theme of the “My Life My Fit” in connection with 6th IDY 2020.
Jarnail Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor has delivered the speech as presidium member on this International Yoga Day. He Said, Yoga is not a religion, it is a way of living that aims towards a healthy mind in a healthy body.
Further, he said, the art of practicing yoga helps in controlling an individual’s mind, body and soul. It brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind; it helps manage stress and anxiety and keeps relaxing. It also helps in increasing flexibility, muscle strength, and body tone. We need to practice yoga regularly. Yoga gives us physical strength and peace of mind, he added.
Demonstration of Common Yoga Protocol was performed by the experts Dr. M. Nodiyachand Singh, Head, i/c, Department of Yoga, Manipur University followed by all the participants.
At the end of the observation, Mr. Boby Moirangthem has delivered the speech as a vote of thank.
