Quality of Life Comes Through Entrepreneurship: Satish Kumar, National Joint Organising Secretary, Swadeshi Jagran Manch
Manipur University, February 17, 2025 – The Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Manipur University (MU), in collaboration with Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan (SBA), Manipur Prant, organized a one-day interaction programme on ‘Entrepreneurship and Swadeshi Economy’ on February 17, 2025, at the MIMS Auditorium Hall, Manipur University. The event aimed to foster discussions on the importance of home-grown entrepreneurship among students, paving the way for Manipur’s development and strengthening the Swadeshi economy as a key job provider in the state.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Shri Satish Kumar, National Joint Organising Secretary, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, elaborated on the principles of entrepreneurship, urging students to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset for attaining a better quality of life. Highlighting the contrast between job seekers and job providers, he emphasized that true quality of life comes through entrepreneurship.
The session was interactive and engaging, with students of MIMS enthusiastically participating. The chief guest and students chanted entrepreneurial principles in unison, such as: i. Speaking at the event, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University, expressed his delight in witnessing the students’ engagement throughout the session. He stressed that exposure to new ideas fosters out-of-the-box thinking. Sharing his insights on entrepreneurship and the Swadeshi economy in Manipur, he emphasized the importance of leveraging natural resources, skills, history, and cultural diversity for economic growth.
In his inspiring speech, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh urged students to: Develop an entrepreneurial mindset, Conduct realistic assessments of market opportunities, Harness original ideas and ancestral knowledge, Build businesses that cater to both local and national markets
Shri Roshni Kumar Yambem, Co-convener, SBA, Manipur Prant, shared his personal startup journey, stating, "A startup is not just about billion-dollar companies, but about anyone striving for self-reliance and generating income." He underscored the role of small businesses in contributing to the economy and encouraged students to explore Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan's initiatives for entrepreneurship development.
Prof. Prabhakar Laishram, Director, MIMS, highlighted the significance of theoretical knowledge of management and company laws for successfully running a business.
The interactive programme was hosted by Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, MU, and Coordinator, SBA, Manipur Prant, bringing a fresh perspective to entrepreneurship for students.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. S. Keshorjit Singh, Faculty, MIMS, and Coordinator, SBA, Bishnupur District. In his vote of thanks, Prof. Jibon Kumar Sharma, MIMS, expressed gratitude to Prof. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University, for providing valuable insights into entrepreneurship in the context of Manipur. He also thanked Shri Satish Kumar for his motivating words and engaging session.
The Interaction Programme on ‘Entrepreneurship and Swadeshi Economy’ was a resounding success, attended by officials, esteemed faculty members, and over a hundred students from the Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Manipur University.
