Manipur University, 16/03/2022: The National Consultation cum Review meeting of the Mahseer network project, 16 March 2022 organised by ICAR-DCFR, Bhimtal at Manipur University, Imphal, Manipur. The National Consultation cum Review Meeting of Mahseer Network Project “Species and stock validation of Mahseer species of genus Tor and Neolissochilus from the western and eastern Himalayan region of India for its propagation and conservation" was organized by ICAR-DCFR in collaboration with the Department of Zoology, Manipur University, Imphal on 16th March 2022.
The National Consultation cum review meeting was inaugurated by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University as the Chief Guest, Prof. W. Vishwanath, UGC-BSR Faculty Fellow, Manipur University and Prof. R. Varatharajan, Dean School of Life Science, Manipur University as Guest of Honours, Dr Pramod Kumar Pandey, Director, ICAR-DCFR as President at the VC Court Hall of Manipur University campus. Dr Debajit Sarma, Principal Scientist, ICAR-DCFR briefed on the importance of the Mahseer Network Project in his introductory remarks.
A leaflet entitled “Naziritor chelynoides, the dark Mahseer of the western Himalayan region of India” was released on the occasion authored by Dr Neetu Shahi et al, 2022.
An MOU was signed between ICAR-DCFR and Manipur University. The MOU was signed by the Registrar, Manipur University and Director, ICAR-DCFR in presence of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University for collaboration of research and academic exchange, especially in the field of fisheries.
A review meeting of the Mahseer network project was held in the conference hall of the Zoology Department, Manipur University under the Chairmanship of Dr Pramod Kumar Pandey, Director, ICAR-DCFR. The review meeting was attended by the all PI/Co-PI/YP of the Mahseer network project partners from ICAR-DCFR, Bhimtal; Manipur University, Manipur; DM University, Manipur; St. Anthony’s College, Shillong; College of Fisheries, Raha. The PI and all the CCPI presented their progress of work carried out during last year in detail.
