Manipur University, 24/03/2023: The Yuva Sangam team from CU, Punjab arrived at Imphal on March 24, 2023, as a weeklong exposure tour to Manipur under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB), an initiative by the Government of India. The CU Punjab team comprises 46 students along with four faculties members.
The team began the reception at the Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal, with a warm welcome by the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) committee members, Manipur University, Canchipur. Cultural artists in traditional attire beat drums to welcome the participants and escorted them to the guest house of the Manipur University.
And lastly, the EBSB Manipur University team extended the reception with a heartiest warm welcome to CU Punjab team by the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, In-charge, Prof. E. Bijoykumar Singh along with Prof R. Varatharanjan, Dean, School of Life Sciences, Prof. M. Premjit Singh, Dean of Students Welfare, Prof. Ch. Ibohal Singh, Nodal Officer EBSB Cell, MU, Dr. RK Joteen Singh, Deputy Registrar, Dr. L. Pinky, Medical Officer and others committee members. Prof. E. Bijoykumar Singh Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, In-charge expressed a warm gratitude to the government of India and the Union Ministry of Education for the initiative of the programme. He also emphasized that the youth will be the pillars of the nation and expressed that they should build themselves so that they are worthy to carry the torch of responsibility from the future generation. The excitement of exchanging cultures, and traditions and setting up meaningful relationships among people from Punjab and Manipur were also emphasized.
After reaching Manipur University, the participants offered prayer at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Thangal Bazar, Imphal and then in the evening, the team visited Shri Shri Bijoy Govindaji Temple, Imphal and Kangla Nongpok Thong Park, Imphal
Day-2 “Yuva Sangam” “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat(EBSB) Central University Punjab at Manipur Date : 25/03/2023
Today, on the second day of weeklong exposure tour to Manipur under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB), an initiative by the Government of India, the Yuva Sangam team from CU, Punjab starts the day with Yoga Session in the early morning at Yoga Lab, Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, Manipur University.
As a campus tour of Manipur University, the Team visited the different locations viz various Hostels, Museum, Old Palace, Archeological sites, Different Departmental Blocks, etc.
The CU Punjab youths got delighted while interacting with Shri Aribam Shyam Sharma, a renowned filmmaker and also screened “Yelhou Jagoi” , a documentary film directed by Shri Sharma at the Department of Mass Communication, MU. The film won the National Film Award for Best Anthropological/Ethnographic Film at the 43rd National Film Awards.
A formal Reception Ceremony was held at Court Hall, Manipur University by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, MU, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, in the presence of Deans, HoDs, Yuva Sangam Committee Members, Officers of MU and friends from the Print and Electronic media personnel.
Hon'ble Vice Chancellor expressed a warm welcome to all the participants by facilitating with Lengyan, a traditional gamosa of Manipur. Speaking about the Yuva Sangam initiative, Manipur University, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, said: “ Manipur shared memoir with the state of Punjab in terms of Intellectuals and prominent Government Bureaucrats from Punjab, trade and business etc which help in the developmental spheres of the State ”
Prof. Ch. Ibohal Singh, Nodal Officer ,EBSB Cell , MU released a short video on the activities performed on the first day of the programme and highlighted importance of strengthening the fabric of traditionally existing emotional bonds between the people of our Country and spirit of oneness focussing on Tourism, Tradition, Development, Technology and People to People connect.
In the evening, her excellency, the Governor of Manipur, Ms. Anusuiya Uikey interacted with the CU Punjab team along with the faculties and officers of the Manipur University.
Interacting with the officials and students participating in the exposure tour, the Hon’ble Governor shared about her involvement in social and political activities right from the college days. She also highlighted the importance of “Yuva Sangam” under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) - Celebrating India’s diversity and spirit of oneness.
Lastly, the Team paid a visit to Marjing Polo Complex, built on the hilltop of the Heingang Ching, the sacred abode of God Marjing, located in Heingang, Imphal East district.
Day 3 “Yuva Sangam” “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat(EBSB) Central University Punjab at Manipur Date : 26/03/2023
On the third day of weeklong exposure tour to Manipur under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB), an initiative by the Government of India, the Yuva Sangam team from CU, Punjab starts the day with the buddy programme where the participants were given an opportunity a visit to the house of the host’s student to understand the Manipuri’s way of living, food habits, culture etc.
The CU Punjab youths got overwhelmed while interacting with Dr. R.K Ranjan Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs at Court Hall, Manipur University in the presence of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, MU, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Deans, HoDs, Yuva Sangam Committee Members, Officers of MU and friends from the Print and Electronic media personnel.
During the interaction, Participants from CU Punjab shared about their experiences till now and moreover the long lasting memoir of the buddy programmes have also been narated. They also thank the Manipur University and Government of India for giving an opportunity to explore Manipur during the last 2 days.
During the interaction programme, Hon’ble Union Minister of State shared that every state has its own distinct and rare cultural epitome and this is the beauty of this Nation and should be known to every Indian citizen. Therefore the initiatives of “Yuva Sangam” “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat(EBSB) came up. He further appealed to the participants to keep Manipur in your Heart.
Post lunch , Legendary olympian Shri Ksh. Thoiba Singh and renowned theater artist Shri Ratan Thiyam interacted with the CU Punjab team along with the faculties and officers of the Manipur University.
Team also visited National Sports University(NSU) ,Manipur Olympian Park,Ima Market, Kangla fort, Cheirao Ching.
In the evening, Participants Interacted with Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri N. Biren Singh. Interacting with the officials and students participating in the exposure tour. Hon’ble Chief Minister shared his life learning experience from sportsmen , media person and then political life. He advised the participants to think about how to strengthen the brotherhood between the states and to contribute to nation building.
