M.U. 18/12/2019: Manipur University organised International Seminar-cum-workshop on "Building Economics Corridors on the Trilateral Highway" with collaboration with Monywa University of Economics, Monywa, Myanmar. The opening function of two day function have been performed at the Committe Room, Vice-Chancellor's Office on 18/12/2019, 10:00 AM. Welcome address was given by Prof.Ksh.Jhaljit Singh (Head, Dept. of Economics, MU). Prof. Ch. Priyoranjan Singh (Principal Investigator, North Eastern Council, Govt. of India, Study on Indian -ASEAN FTA and Act East Policy in north East India) highlight about the seminar and followed by the address of Pro-Rector, Monywa University of Economics, Myanmar, Prof Ni Ni AungOn 'Importance of academic Exchange and joint Research MOU between Monywa University of Economics and Manipur University' for Indo-Myanmar development cooperation.
The first day of the International Seminar-cum-workshop have two techincal session. The First technicl session was chair by Prof.Ch.Proyoranjan Singh (Dept. of Economics, MU).Gautum Mukhopadhaya, formar Indian Ambassador to Myanmar read the paper on 'the present and futures of land based Indo-Myanmar development cooperation on the land route'. Prof. Thar Hta, Head, Dept of Economics, Monywa University of Economics present the paper 'The Key Challenges of Myanmar-India border trade'. Prof. Bezbaruah, Dept. of Economics, Gauhati University present 'The Trilateral Higheay and the Act East policy initiative: Stakes and challenges'. Prof. Ch.Ibohal Meitei, Director, Manipur Institute of Management Studies, MU present 'Indo-Myanmar border trade and value chain prospects'. Prof. KyaingKyaingThet, Detp. of Statistis, Monywa University of Economics present 'Myanmar and its main trading partners'. Dr.Damodar Nepram, Dept. of Economics, MU, present the 'ASEAN-India trade composition'. Before taking lunch break the delegates have an open discussion.

Debabrata, Industrialist, Imphal'Trade and investment prospects between Northeast India and Myanmar'. Ms. Shubhra Devi Hanjabam, Representative, All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association present 'Industries in Manipur'. Dr. Chinglen Maisnam, Assoc. Prof., Dept. of Economics, MU present 'Issues and prospects of MSMEs in NE India and India's Act East Policy. Dr. sophia Arambam, Asst Prof, Dept. of Economics, MU present 'Manipur Munmar relations in history'. The delegates have an open discussion before closing the session.
The second day (19/12/2019) of the seminar-cum-workshop will have three session. The first technical session of the second day will be chair by Prof. E Bijoykumar Singh, Dept. of Economics, MU. Prof. Thar Htay (Head, Dept. of Economics, Monywa University of economics) will chair the Technical Session IV. Prof. NawHteeMueLoeHtoo(Dept. of Economics, Monywa University), Prof. E. Bijoykumar Singh (Dept. of Economics, MU) and Dr. H. Iswarchandra Sharma (Asst.Prof., Dept of Econmics, MU) will present their paper in the said session.
Prof.Ch.Priyoranjan Singh (Dept. of Ecomonics, MU) will chair the Trader's Special Session on "Impediments to trade and way towards Normal Trade'. U H La Maung (President, Tamu Border Trade chamber of commerce, Myanmar) , V Sekhar (President, Moreh Border Chamber of Commerce, Manipur) and Dr Myo Zaw (Abdul Yazat), Vice chairman, saging Industrial Zone, Myanmar will present in the sspecial session.
