Indian Council for Cultural Relations Regional Office, Shillong in Collaboration with Dept. of Dance and Music Manipur University & Manipur University of Culture joinly organised the "Manipur International Symposium on Dance & Music". The International Symposium was started today (28th March 2019) with Inaugural Function at Centenary Hall, Manipur University, Canchipur from 11 A.M. onwards.
Her Excellency the Governor of Manipur, Dr. Najma Heptullah (Cheif Rector, Manipur University), has graced & inaugurated the symposium as Chief Guest. Jarnail Singh, Administrator & VC of Manipur University, have also graced the inaugural function as President. And M Lakshmikumar Singh (Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University of Culture), N Munish Singh (Regional Director, ICCR, NE Region) & Prof. Ch Yashwanta Singh (Dean, School of Humanities, MU) have also attended the inaugural function as Guest of Honour. The Governor expressed that the symposium wil help students in widening their knowledge and share ideas with eminent artistes of Indian classical dance forms & the symposium will improve the cultural ties with neighbouring countries. M Lakshmikumar Singh expressed that the event will give operatunity to all not only to deliver on cultural but also to witness the various performing arts. Jarnail Singh said that programme schedules of the event will give benefit the teachers and students.
On 28th & 29th March, 2019 the symposium will be performed at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University. And from 4 P.M. of 30th March, 2019 onwards the symposium will be conducted at MFDC Auditorium, Palace Compound, Imphal. According to programme schedule, the First and Second day of the symposium will consist of Panel discussion, Paper Presentation, Lecture cum Demostration of various Dance & Music. The speaker and moderator of the function were from Belarus, Russia, taly, Myanmar, Thailand, Kolkatta, Assam, Odisha, Delhi etc.
