Korean First Seminar of Hangeul Day Celebrate at Manipur University
Department of Foreign Language (Korean), Manipur University organised First Seminar of Hangeul Day Celebration at the University Court Hall on today (25th February 2019). The seminar was sponsored by The Academy of Korean Studies, SAMSUNG, Korean Cultural Centre and Asiana Airlines.
The Inuaguration of Hangeul Day Cellebration, 2019, was graced by Jarnail Singh (Administrator MU), Yoo Chang-ho (Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Korea), Kwak Mira (Education Director, Korean Cultural Centre, Delhi), Dr. Hyunkyung Lee (Visiting Professor, Korea Foundation) and Prof. Yashwanta Singh (Co-ordinator of Department of Foreign Language, MU).
Jarnail Singh (Administrator MU) and Prof. Yashwanta Singh (Co-ordinator of Department of Foreign Language, MU) delivered the welcome speech. Dr. Hyunkyung Lee (Visiting Professor, Korea Foundation) give the introductory speech. Yoo Chang-ho (Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of Republic of Korea) gave the Congratulatory speech for scholarship destribution by Asiana Airline (Two round trip ticket) and donation by Samsung (two 43inch LCD, HP Miti-purpose printer, four Samsung Smartphone and Stationary item for students) Dr Ahanthem Romita Devi (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Foreign Language (Korean), MU gave the vote of Tank of the inauguration ceremony.
First session was chaired by Dr. Hyunkyung Lee at the Mass Comm. Seminar Hall Manipur University. Yoo Chang-ho(Minister-Counsellor, Embassy of the Republic of Korea) presented the “Relationship between Korea and India”. Followed by Prof Yashwanta singh speech on “Effective Laguage Teaching”. Dr S.J. Neethiranjan (Regional Director, IGNOU, Regional Centre, Imphal) presented the “Basic Need Approach to Rural & Tribal Development with special reference to Arunachal Pradesh”. Seongyoon Jeong & Jongkwan Yoon (Researcher, Samsung Electornics) delivered “History and core values of Sumsung” & “Samsung in India” .
First day of Hangeul Day Celebration 2019 have Korean Food Featival at Centrenary Lawn, MU with 6 food items and poster for explaining of each Korean Food. Heavy rush of student and participant at Korean Food Festival from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM.
Second session started at 3:00 pm. Ms. Kwak Mira (Educational Director, Korean Cultural Centre in New Delhi) presented “Korean Language Teaching in India”. Dr. L.Iboyaima Singh (Assistant Prof., Department of Humanities, Manipur Technical University) delivered “Issues and Challenges in introducing Korean at Manipur Technical University”. Sonia Wahengbam (Assistant Prof.) & Dr. Natasha Elangbam (Assistant Prof.) jointly presented “Understanding the diffusion of Hallyu(Korean Wave) in Manipur”.
Korean Cultural Programme was scheduled from 5:00 pm to 7:0 pm. The participants of the cultural programme are Taekwondo team, K-pop group(dance & Singing), Manipur dance team, Korean fan dance and Korean songs.
Tommorrow (26th February 2019) programme will consist of Korean Quiz Competition, Korean Singing & Dance Competition and Korean movie screening. More than 56 students have registred for Hangeul Day Quiz competition. The First prize of Hangeul day Quiz competition will be a Samsung Smart phone with certificate. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th position holder of quiz will receive the Cash prize of Rs.4000, Rs.3000, Rs.2000 & Rs.1000 with certificates.

Meanwhile, Manipur University Student Union(MUSU) organised a reception ceremony at the Conference Hall of Anthropology Department, MU today (dated 25th Feb 2019). Jarnail Singh IAS (Administrator, MU), Prof. Ch. Jashwanta singh(Deans of Students Welfare, MU) & Prof. M.C. Arun (HOD Anthropology Dept,MU) graced the reception ceremony as Cheif Guest, President & Guest of Honour respectively. The reception ceremony was for the participation of Manipur University Cultural Team at 34th East Zone Inter University Youth Festival at Bihar and 34th Inter University National Youth Festival at Chandigarh University.
