Manipur University , 12-8-2024: The Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC) of Manipur University organized Anti-Ragging Day 2024 on August 12, 2024, at the Senate Hall, Department of Earth Science, Manipur University. The event aimed to raise awareness about the guidelines and norms of anti-ragging as stipulated in the UGC notification.
The program was graced by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University, as the Chief Guest; Prof. M. Premjit Singh, Dean, Students’ Welfare (DSW), Manipur University, as the Guest of Honour; and Prof. Maibam Bidyananda, Head, Department of Earth Sciences, Manipur University, Proctor, Manipur University, and Member of the Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC), MU, as the President of the function. Esteemed guests, faculty members, research scholars, and university students attended the event, with nearly 120 students participating.
The Chief Guest inaugurated the Anti-Ragging Week, scheduled from August 12th to 18th, 2024, with the publication of an Anti-Ragging Awareness Poster and Selfie Stand. In the keynote address, Dr. Chungmeijai Mathew Mk, Nodal Officer of the Anti-Ragging Committee (ARC), MU, highlighted the significance of observing Anti-Ragging Day 2024 and the committee’s role in maintaining a safe and peaceful environment on campus. Prof. N. Lokendra Singh also emphasized the need for a secure and peaceful learning environment. The weeklong observance aimed to raise awareness of the evils of ragging among students and faculty members.
