Manipur University, March 20, 2025 – Manipur University (MU), Canchipur, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Emporium Training & Consultancy Pvt. Ltd. (ETCPL), Imphal, on March 20, 2025, marking a significant step towards enhancing students' employability skills through skill development and training programs.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Th. Binoy Singh, Registrar (in-charge), Manipur University (MU), and Smt. Sentirenla Longkumer, Centre Director, ETCPL, with the objective of fostering skill development, vocational training, internships, and placements for students. The agreement also aims to facilitate study materials, infrastructure, mobilization programs, and campus recruitment drives, benefiting both institutions.
Emphasizing the significance of collaborative initiatives, Smt. Sentirenla Longkumer, Centre Director, ETCPL, highlighted the importance of National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF)-aligned, placement-linked skill development training in aviation, tourism, hospitality, and other customer service sectors. She stressed that the goal is to equip youth in Manipur with up-to-date knowledge and professional skills, enabling them to deliver world-class services in today’s rapidly growing customer service industries.
During the signing event, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, MU, stated that with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the university is committed to enhancing students' employability skills. He emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation in providing training and skill development programs aligned with the vision of the new education policy.
The event was attended by Anirban Mukherjee, Operations Manager, ETCPL, along with his team; Prof. A. Rajmani Singh, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), MU; and Dr. Nambram Amulkumar, Head, Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development (DVSSD), School of Social Sciences, MU.
The partnership between MU and ETCPL is expected to strengthen skill development and vocational training for students, creating new job opportunities in hospitality, customer service, and retail. This collaboration aims to accelerate employment opportunities and reinforce Manipur University’s commitment to academic excellence and student welfare.
