Manipur University, February 25, 2025 : The College Development Council, Manipur University (MU), Tamil Sangam, Moreh, Manipur, and the Department of Ancient History and Archaeology, MU jointly organized a one-day seminar on "Sage Agastiya and His Contributions" as part of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0 on February 25, 2025, at the Court Hall, MU. The seminar aimed to explore the profound contributions of Sage Agastiya and their relevance in modern society.

Shri N. Ashok Kumar, IAS, Commissioner (Home), Government of Manipur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his visionary speech, he highlighted Sage Agastiya’s multifaceted legacy and his role in integrating ancient India through classical Indian languages. He applauded Manipur University for recognizing the rich cultural contributions of Sage Agastiya and emphasized that the seminar aligns with the Government of India’s initiative to celebrate Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0 in universities and institutions nationwide. Encouraging students to delve into ancient Indian history, he stressed its significance in shaping perspectives on the past and present.

The event was presided over by Prof. Naorem Lokendra Singh, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, MU. In his presidential address, Prof. Lokendra Singh discussed Sage Agastiya’s influence in Sangam literature, Ayurveda, health sciences, and natural sciences. He emphasized the importance of Kashi Tamil Sangamam, acknowledging the Prime Minister’s role in promoting classical literature and the historical transmission of ideas and civilizations across India.

In an insightful speech, Shri Kabib. K, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Intelligence), Government of Manipur, described Sage Agastiya as a revered guru who contributed immensely to literature, medicine, Ayurveda, yoga, and music. He underscored the unity in diversity, drawing parallels between Tamil and Manipuri mythological traditions.

As a gesture of appreciation, Tamil Sangam, Moreh, honored the distinguished dignitaries. The seminar left a lasting impact on faculty members, students, research scholars, and administrative officers, deepening their understanding of Sage Agastiya’s timeless wisdom.
