Manipur University, 18/05/2022: The Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University, Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, in the function held today, the 18th May 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Committee Room of the University, extended a Warm Reception to the medal-winning players and officials of the university in the 2nd Khelo India University Games, 2022 which was held at Jain University, Bengaluru, Karnataka during April 24 to May 03, 2022.
Manipur University participated in the Games in the following events and gabbed medals: In Fencing (M&W) event, Gold, Epee Individual by Linthoi Haobam (Manipur University), Gold, Foil Team by Ph. Anita Chanu(Biramangol College), Khusboorani Laishram (Biramangol College), N.Mina Devi(KP College) and G.Priyalaxmi Devi(Oriental College), Bronze, Foil individual by Ph Anita Chanu(Biramangol College); Manager Official are H.Jadavchandra(MU) & H. Leimarembi(MFA) and Coach officials are H. Manglemba Meetei (MPSC) & S. Roshan Meitei (NIS Coach). In the event, Athletics(W), Bronze, Foil individual by H Bhumeshwory Devi(Biramangol College) and Manager Cum Coach by L Thoimani Devi(YAS).
Manipur Univerity contingent was led by Dr.Kh.Joychandra Singh, Associate Professor, Manipur College as the University Contingent Manager(UCM).
It is noteworthy to mention herewith that Manipur University Fencing(W) Team has been awarded the 2nd Overall Best Team Trophy. Further, MU secures 37th position out of 142 Medal-Winning Universities. A total of 187 universities out of 827 member universities of the Association of Indian Universities participated in the Games.
The Reception Function was attended by the Registrar, MU, Prof.W. Chandbabu Singh, Finance Officer, i/c, MU, Prof. N. Rajmani Singha and Asst. Director of Sports, MU, Dr Pradeep Singh. The Vice-Chancellor, MU, on behalf of the university, congratulated and thanked the players and their officials on the grand victory, laurels brought by them to the university. The Vice-Chancellor, then, presented certificates of the Games to the players.
Further, the players will receive the following Cash Awards from the University. In Team events, for Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals with a cash price of Rs 10,000/-, Rs. 7,000/- and Rs. 5,000/- for each member respectively. And in the Individual events, for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals with a cash award of Rs. 15,000/-, Rs.10,000/- and Rs. 7,000 each respectively.
