Manipur University, 27/12/2024: Under the Viksit Bharat Youth Leader Dialogue Challenge, the “Viksit Bharat Essay State Championship” was held on 27th December 2024, at 11:00 AM, in the Department of Commerce, Manipur University. The event was organized by the Viksit Bharat Committee and the NSS Cell, Manipur University, under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, New Delhi. This initiative was part of the upcoming National Youth Festival 2025, scheduled to take place from 11th–12th January 2025 at the iconic Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The championship aimed to engage young minds nationwide through essay writing challenges across various themes and tracks.

The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh, Nodal Officer, who extended a heartfelt welcome to the esteemed moderator, Madam Richa Dwivedi, representing the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Dr. Singh acknowledged her invaluable presence and emphasized its importance to the success of the event.

Dr. Singh also extended a warm welcome to the esteemed jury members and the dedicated technical team, expressing heartfelt gratitude for their gracious participation and support. The jury included: Prof. Ch. Ibohal Singh, Prof. K. Shitaljit Singh, Dr. S. Sunil Singh, Dr. Macha Chaoreikanba Singh, Dr. RK Suresh Singh, Dr. Ksh. Ranjan Singh and Dr. H. Suraj Singh. He also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of the technical team, led by Mr. I. Tilokchan Singh, along with his team, for their meticulous efforts in ensuring the smooth execution of the event.

Addressing the dedicated participants, Dr. Singh called them the heart of the championship and wished them the best of luck. Parents and media representatives were also acknowledged for their presence and support.

Dr. Singh highlighted the journey of the Viksit Bharat Essay State Championship in Manipur. Initially, 64 applicants submitted essays for the first round. After a thorough evaluation, the top 25 participants were selected based on their ability to address the themes and tracks clearly and effectively. Despite challenges, including mixed submissions across themes, the committee ensured fairness in selecting the most relevant essays.

For the final championship round, 22 out of the 25 shortlisted participants confirmed their participation. Among them, 8 participants presented their ideas online as they were studying outside Manipur, while 14 attended offline. Despite the state’s ongoing challenges, Dr. Singh commended the enthusiasm and dedication of the participants. Each applicant delivered a core idea presentation (via PPT) across various themes and tracks before the jury and the moderator. Selected participants will earn the opportunity to represent the state at the National Youth Festival 2025 in New Delhi.

The event concluded with a briefing by the moderator, Madam Richa Dwivedi, who expressed her appreciation for the excellent organization of the championship. She also conveyed the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ gratitude for the cooperation of the organizing team and extended her best wishes to all participants. Madam Dwivedi encouraged the participants to aspire for success at the national level. Finally, she thanked everyone present and wished for a successful and inspiring event.
