National Service Scheme Cell (NSS): Manipur University is having a National Service Scheme Cell in its premiss since 1980. At present, the Cell is supervising 86 NSS units operating in 60 different colleges and institutions affiliated with the University. Further, the cell also organizes various programmes such as National Integration Camp, Inter-State Youth Exchange Programmes, Advance Programmes and deputing Student volunteers for youth exchange programmes abroad.

Manipur University, 02/06/2022: On 2nd June 2022, at 1:00 p.m., A book named “DEVELOPING HUMAN RESOURCE IN MANIPUR THROUGH NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME” was released by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-chancellor, Manipur University and Dr Maibam Nodyachand Singh, Programme Co-ordinator, NSS Cell, HOD, Department of Yoga, Manipur University. at VC’s Committee Room, Manipur University, Canchipur. The author of the book, Dr Okram Sanajaobi Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Liberal College, Luwangshangbam and NSS Programme Officer Unit –II, also explained her research experience. This was the first book of such kind in the National Service Scheme, also got PhD Degree. Vice-chancellor, Prof N. Lokendra Singh congratulated Dr Okram Sanajaobi Devi, for bringing to the masses and dispatching information about the NSS. He also suggested publishing further, as this is going to put in value-added course subject in the University.
Dr Maibam Nodiyachand Singh, explain the book. He said that this book consists of important findings, recommendations & results that NSS could be applied to near future course of action. He also explained the present scenario of NSS in Manipur as well as at Manipur University. NSS started at Manipur University in 1980. Manipur University had only two units. Recently Manipur University opened one new Unit, and now altogether has three Units. The ceremony was also presented Dr Premlata Maisnam, Head, Department of Education, Manipur University, Naorem Joytin Singh, Manipur University NSS Awardee, Dr R.K. Brajananda Singh, Asst. Professor, Department of Political Science, Liberal College, Luwangshangbam and programme Officers of NSS Unit –I, II and III, Manipur University.
Manipur University, 02/06/2022: In connection with the observance of the 8th International day of Yoga, the department of yoga, Manipur University and NSS cell, Manipur University organised a one day workshop on “Yoga for personality development” on June 2, 2022 at 2 pm at the department of yoga Manipur University. In the workshop, Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, Manipur University, graced the occasion as chief guest, Rajaque Rahman who is a senior faculty, Art of Living, Manipur was present as guest of honour and Dr M. Nodiyachand Singh, HOD Department of Yoga, NSS Cell Coordinator presided the workshop. The resource persons were Mr. Laishram Dixon Singh and Rajaque Rahman, both senior faculty, Art of Living, Manipur deliberated on the benefits of yoga practice in personality development.
Chief Guest, Prof. W. Chandbabu Singh, Registrar, Manipur University, expressed the importance of personality and relation to Yoga. In the presidential Address Dr Maibam Nodiyachand Singh, HOD Department of Yoga, NSS Cell Coordinator spoke about the workshop. He said this workshop was organised as part of the 8th International day of Yoga. Department offering Yoga practice of IDY Common Yoga Protocol from 2nd June to 20th June 2022 at Department of Yoga from 6: am to 7:20 am every Monday to Friday. Every interested can join the training. The workshop was attended by about 60 participants via faculties (teaching and non-teaching) of the department of yoga, PESS, students, scholars etc.
Date 11/05/2022: Manipur University NSS Unit I, II, and III jointly organized an Induction Programme for New NSS Volunteers on 11th May 2022 (Wednesday) for the year 2022-23. The program was held at Manipur University Centenary Hall. More than 100 University Students were turned up for final enrollment for MU NSS. During the program, volunteers were allowed to present extempore speech, dance, solo songs, poems, and special numbers.

Date 10/12/2021: Observance of Human Rights Day was conducted today (10/12/2021) by MU NSS Units at MU centenary Hall. During the program, Rohit Khumanthem talk about social stigmatizations faced by Transgenders which was followed by Dr O. Jitendra Singh who spoke about the importance of Observing for the day.
Date 5/12/2021: Observance of "International Volunteers Day" was held today at the Department of Anthropology jointly by NSS Units I, II and III, MU. Date 1/12/2021: Today, Manipur University NSS Units I, II and III jointly organized the Observance of World AIDS Day with a theme on "Ending the HIV Epidemic, Equitable Access, Everyone's Voice" at the Department of Anthropology, MU. During the observance function Dr Senjam Sunil Singh, PO, Unit I spoke about the importance of observing World AIDS Day and appeal for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Dr. M. M. Chaoreikanba, PO Unit II has given a speech on how to maintain a strong mindset by the student volunteers. Newly constituted Unit III Program Officer, Dr. H. Suraj Singh also spoke about the history of AIDS and HIV. Two minutes silence was observed for the departed souls due to AIDS. Student volunteers along with teachers did some donations for the cause.
